Luminary
Luminary is a visual effects add-on that enhances Bedrock’s ambient lighting without requiring a full shader replacement. It works within Bedrock’s vanilla rendering pipeline, so it runs on all devices — including console and mobile.
Features
- Dynamic shadows — entities cast soft shadows that shift with the sun angle
- Glow layer — configurable per-entity emissive effect for custom mobs, items, and blocks
- Fog density controls — per-biome fog curves, configurable from the behaviour pack
- Weather atmospherics — rain dims ambient light, storms deepen shadows
- Aurora effect — visible above Y=200 in cold biomes on clear nights
Why Not a Shader Pack
Full shader replacements break on consoles and mobile. Luminary uses only vanilla rendering APIs, so it works everywhere Bedrock runs. The trade-off is we can’t touch the sky or water — only entity and block lighting.
Installation
Drop the .mcaddon into Bedrock and apply both the resource pack and behaviour pack to your world. No additional configuration required to get the defaults.
